Is Latisse® safe?
When used by the right individual with the right amount the answer is Yes. The active ingredient in Latisse® has been used in a different compound form for the lowering of the Intra-Ocular pressure for many years under the name of Lumigan®. Recently, the FDA has approved the active compound as Latisse® after undergoing much required research and found it to be a safe, effective treatment for eyelash growth and re-growth.
When can I expect to see bigger, thicker lashes?
Results are seen within 3 weeks with best results achieved on most patients by 2 to 3 months.
Are there any side effects?
As with any prescription strength medication there can be some side effects. The most common side affects reported were itchy and red eyes. The most extreme in some rare cases is a non-reversible brownish darkening of iris color affecting people with blue eyes, although this problem wasn't observed in FDA tests for this product.
Can I just buy Latisse® at the drugstore?
No, it is not available without a prescription.
What about buying it in Mexico or Canada or other products in the internet?
Latisse® is not available outside of the United States at the moment. The products that are advertise on the internet might work but are used without medical supervision. These products are not regulated and used without supervision. There are very serious eye threatening conditions with the use of prostaglandin analogs, an example of which is ocular herpes that might be exacerbated by the use of these compounds. Caution is always advised as products are untested and not regulated.
What is the procedure to get a prescription?
After you have a comprehensive evaluation to see if the product can be safely used, you will be issued a prescription. There are periodic exams required to monitor the use of the medication. The Doctor will determined if you are a candidate by an in-office consultation. We will ask some questions and make an assessment regarding your needs and the baseline functioning of the skin and eyelids before the prescription is given.
Can anyone use Latisse?
No, there are some patients in which the use of the medication is contraindicated.
What happens if I stop using Latisse®?
Your eyelashes will gradually return to their prior appearance if treatment isn't maintained.
When can I make an appointment?
Call our office and talk to our cosmetic coordinator, we would be able to see you as soon as this week! We also offer Botox treatments.
What is the fee for this consultation?
Medical Insurance does not cover cosmetic services or procedures. Our initial consult fee is $130 and $99 each subsequent visit. Prescriptions must be renewed in 3-month intervals.

As with many medications, monitoring of results over time is essential Periodic evaluation of dosage and tapering the use of the medication is required to minimize side effects. Hence, results will be evaluated in 3 month intervals. These evaluations include examination of the skin areas around the lids, eyelashes, pupils, photo documentation of progress and eye pressure among other things.
